Phi Tran, AIA | Principal + Design Director

I am a dynamic professional with a diverse background spanning architecture, drafting, and environmental stewardship. Graduating from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Environment, specializing in Architecture and Construction, in 2015 laid the foundation for my career journey. Relocating from Melbourne, Australia to San Jose, California with my family, I embarked on a trajectory that has seamlessly blended my passion for design, construction, and service to our nation.

My career began as a Junior Drafter at Weston Miles Architect in Morgan Hill, CA, from 2016 to 2017, where I honed my skills in architectural drafting and design. Recognizing my potential, I transitioned to MBA Architects in San Jose, CA, in late 2017, and have been an integral part of their team since 2018. This experience deepened my understanding of architectural intricacies and refined my ability to translate concepts into detailed, practical designs.

A pivotal moment in my journey was the decision to enlist in the U.S. Army National Guard as a Water Treatment Specialist (E4). This commitment, undertaken early in 2022, allowed me to combine my environmental sensibilities with a strong sense of duty to our nation. My service in this capacity has underscored the importance of resource management, environmental stewardship, and the critical role of engineering in ensuring sustainability.

As I relocate to Dallas, TX, at the close of 2023, I bring with me a breadth of experience that transcends fields and disciplines. Simultaneously, I am embarking on a new academic pursuit, commencing a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering at Norwich University. This educational endeavor represents a natural progression in my quest for knowledge and mastery in the engineering domain.

Having joined the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 2022, I am deeply committed to professional development, staying connected with the latest industry trends, and contributing to the architectural and engineering communities. My journey thus far reflects a dedication to excellence, an unwavering work ethic, and a profound belief in the power of design and engineering to shape a sustainable and resilient future.

Looking ahead, I am eager to apply my diverse skills, passion for innovation, and environmental consciousness to drive transformative projects that marry functionality, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility. With my cross-disciplinary expertise, I am poised to excel in bridging the gap between architecture and engineering, delivering comprehensive solutions that elevate the built environment while preserving the natural world.

I eagerly anticipate the forthcoming chapters of my career and education, as I continue to evolve as a professional, a leader, and a custodian of our environment.
